About the yarn:
The Cheviot sheep comes originally the Cheviot Hills, area on the border of England and Scotland. They were first described in 1370 as 'a small but hardy race'. They survive well even in harsh conditions. The Cheviot ewe grazes up to 3,000 feet and can live off the hill throughout the year. Nowadays Cheviots are appreciated and kept all over the UK.

 

About the dyestuff:
Weld is a very old dyeing plant – it was identified on textile fragments from the Iron Age and possibly it was used even in the Neolithic period. It was one of the favourites dyestuff in Anglo-Saxon England, known also by the Vikings, still widely used in medieval Europe and even later, up to the introducing modern chemical dyes.
